David Biespiel Founder, Director, & Writer-in-Residence David Biespiel is widely recognized as one of the leading poets of his generation, a liberal commentator on national politics, & also one of the nation's experts in teaching writing. His teaching experience is innovative & vast: He has taught at every level of education, from a one-room schoolhouse to large university campuses, from public high schools to graduate seminars, from teaching poetics at Stanford University to developing national champions in the Olympic sport of diving, & he has lectured and spoken to audiences throughout the United States. Looking to create an independent writing studio in 1999, David founded the Attic as a haven for writers in Portland's historic Hawthorne district. Among his publications are The Book of Men and Women, Wild Civility, Pilgrims & Beggars, & Shattering Air. He has been honored with a Wallace Stegner Fellowship in Poetry, the Pacific Northwest Booksellers Award, a Lannan Fellowship, & a National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship in Literature. David has taught at many colleges, including Stanford, George Washington University, University of Maryland, & Portland State University, & he has been the Richard H. Thornton Writer-in-Residence at Lynchburg College in Virginia. He currently divides his teaching among three universities: in the fall as the Visiting Poet at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, in the spring as an Adjunct Professor at Oregon State University, & in the summer on the faculty of the low-residency M.F.A. Program at Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, Washington. A contributor to American Poetry Review, Parnassus, Poetry, Slate, The New York Times, The Washington Post, & The New Republic, David has been, since 2002, the columnist on poetry for The Oregonian. Charles Olivea (link to bio) has been married for 43 years to wife, Mary. They live to Santa Fe, New Mexico, because of its appeal along spiritual, ethnic, historical and aesthetic lines. Charles has studied The Urantia Book since 1968 and has tried to integrate its teachings into his life. He knew from the beginning that it constituted living truth and eventually appreciated why this planetary revelation came in book form: essentially, to bring greater clarity and instruction (spiritual wisdom) to our minds. He has have dedicated his life--personally and professionally (he is a teacher)--to its dissemination. Phil Taylor (link to bio) has been a reader of The Urantia Book since 1991, when he found it in college. His passion is service; that's what he speaks about at conferences.
The guest this week is a man Andre's known since the 1990's, when he was doing secular talk-radio on the Chicago airwaves. He began writing books on politics, but has since switched to writing about religious topics. Dinesh D'Souza's, (link to bio) latest book is titled Life AFter Death, the Evidence. Dinesh arrived in America in 1978 as an exchange student from India, and graduated from Dartmouth College in the early 1980's, where he founded the Dartmouth Review. Upon graduation, he spent two years editing a Princeton University alumni magazine, and then went on to serve as a domestic policy analyst for the Reagan White House. He also served as a fellow at two think-tanks, the American Enterprise Institute and the Hoover Institution. He is currently founder of the Why God Institute. His books include Illiberal Education, the end of Racism, What's So Great About America?, and more recently, What's So Great About Christianity? In his most recent work, D'Souza sets out to prove, though reason alone, that life after death exists. Drawing on arguments from philosophy, physics, neuroscience and other disciplines, he concludes that life after death can be demonstrated with no appeals to revelation or religious authority. What's interesting thing for us is how many of his claims are similar to those of The Urantia Book. While himself a committed Christian, D'Souza has an open and flexible mind. He is calm, well-spoken, and impeccably logical. D'Souza has debated many contemporary atheists, such as Richard Dawkins, Christopher Hitchens, and Sam Harris. Tune in for a stimulating conversation with one of our finest contemporary intellectuals.

Sue Cook is a neurodevelopmentalist; she shows people how to rewire their or their child's brain in cases of dyslexia, dyspraxia, dyscalculia, ADHD, Asperger's, Autism, and Mutism and so on. She learnt this to help her son who had been diagnosed with dyslexia. Within a very short time people were asking her to help their children when they saw the results she achieved, and within months people in other countries were ringing her for help. She noticed a hitherto ignored link between neuroscience and neurodevelopment and is researching that with the help of her old university head of department who was so impressed with this link that he said he would help her research it and publish articles. Sue has written the program down so that anyone anywhere can access the modules from her website, or she will see families in person at her home overlooking the Blackwater estuary in England. Sue is a very hardworking and dedicated person, and testimonials people have written about Sue speak for themselves: 'Sue you're our hero, you've saved us'; 'best thing we ever did seeing Sue Cook, fantastic'; 'best money we ever spent seeing Sue Cook'; 'amazing, we are now have our life back' and more. Sue's life talks have been described thus 'absolutely fantastic ... thank you for enlightening me, and clearly blowing the room away with your enthusiasm and knowledge!'. Sue writes articles about her work, gives talks, does radio interviews, and is passionate about helping people overcome their brain wiring problems. Before becoming a health scientist and neurodevelopmentalist, Sue was a magazine editor and photographer. She has also been on the cover of a magazine, and has provided artwork of various kinds for several magazines.

Keiser has been involved with markets and finance for 25 years. He started his career as a stock broker on Wall Street after graduating from New York University. PredictionsThroughout Keiser's shows he has been known for making predictions: In the September 2004 issue of The Ecologist magazine, Keiser correctly predicted the 2008 collapse of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac when he wrote, "My guess is that the two stocks that look the likeliest to implode at the hands of derivative-wielding Wall Street financial types (and other fundamentalists) preying on a US economy made weak by cheap money are Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac."[23] In 2006 he correctly predicted that sub-prime mortgage-backed securities would be the cause of recession by 2008.[18][dead link][citation needed] In 2007 he correctly predicted the break-down of Iceland's economy in 2008.[24] In July 2008, accused Lehman Brothers of "trying to out-Enron Enron", accusing the bank of "Peek-a-boo accounting", an attempt to mis-report the bank's wealth by gaming the regulatory system.

Mark Lawton Thomas was born in Savannah , Georgia. After graduating from the University of Georgia, Mr. Thomas worked as a copy writer for various advertising agencies first in Atlanta, and then in Manhattan. Eventually, he returned to the South and began writing a weekly column for Creative Loafing and voicing them for Georgia Public Radio. Somehow he found time to edit Contents magazine, an award-winning quarterly, as well. Presently, Mr. Thomas is involved in his most challenging job to date: …teaching 6th grade Language Arts in Atlanta. When he isn’t teaching his little heart out, grading essays with his trusty, red Sharpie, or working on his next book, Mr. Thomas can be found fast asleep on a couch somewhere in Buckhead. In his book, "When Farts Have Color", he tells the story of 4th grader Lance Chance who hates Mondays. This particular Monday Lances mom coaxes Lance to school with his favorite sandwiches and a wish-kiss. On his way to school Lance is tormented by "the biggest, meanest 4th grader ever to stalk the halls of Alfonso Orr Elementary School. Merry Maddox. Bully Extraordinaire...…”A "legend" and her posse of mayhem, the Crazy M&Ms. At the heart of When Farts Had Colors are themes that any parent, teacher, and child will appreciate: being honest, taking responsibility, respect for others, taking the counsel of elders, redemption, and love. And of course, its hilarious with sophisticated humor that both adults and children will appreciate. http://www.whenfartshadcolors.com Short Link: http://tobtr.com/s/2760947 Guest Call-in (805) 830-8344
